Just Keep Fishing Deliveries
Yellow packages on the grass. Grab with E, spend on backpack and rods, do not go crate-only.
Just Keep Fishing hides a second wallet on the grass: yellow package crates. They sit on islands the same way the sell barrel does. You walk up, press E, and coins land without a bobber. That is the whole trick. The rest of this page is why that trick takes over a run, why you should still buy backpack size and extra rods, and why a second playthrough can feel already maxed.
If you have not sold a fish yet, start at Getting Started and How to Make Money Fast. This page assumes you already know the barrel. For the island order around the crates, use the Island Walkthrough. For spend order after a crate dump, use the upgrade planner. For the buy/skip argument that names deliveries, read the review.
What a yellow crate actually is
A delivery is a yellow package crate on the island. Screenshots show them on tropical grass next to extra rods, and again in the late stretch when the HUD is talking in trillions. They are not a skill-tree node you toggle. They are world objects. If you ignore them, they sit there. If you grab them, they pay.
They are not fish. They do not use the dashed circle or the red !. They do not wait on a bite window. Treat the crate like the barrel: walk into prompt range and press E. This wiki will not invent a spawn timer, a crate-per-island quota, or a hidden delivery rank on the blue tree. What we can print is how players use them, and how one launch-week Steam review named the problem they create.
The 27 August 2026 launch is a short incremental — reviewers describe about two hours and about twelve islands. Crates are how that short loop can jump a rank early. They are also how a first file and a second file start to feel like different games.
Grab them with E, like the barrel
E is sell / interact. On the barrel it dumps the backpack. On a yellow crate it takes the package. If E does nothing, you are out of range, or that yellow thing is scenery. Walk closer. The same rule that makes a missed barrel sale feel bad makes a missed crate feel worse, because the crate was coins you did not have to catch.
You do not need a special delivery bind. You do not need to open the skill tree first. Space still toggles GO FISH!. WASD still walks the fox. If the crate is on the far side of the island, walk. Magnets help you vacuum dropped fish on the way, but magnets are not a crate button. The crate wants E. Confirm leftover keys in Controls if a prompt on your build disagrees with this page.
On hour one you may not see a crate yet. Island 1 is a tropical pond, a hut, a barrel, and a tiny backpack. When later islands start dropping yellow packages, the muscle memory should already be: see crate, walk, E, go back to water. Do not stand on the crate waiting for it to auto-collect. Do not recast into empty sand while a package sits behind you.
Why deliveries get overpowered
The fishing loop has friction. You cast, wait for the !, click, fill the pack, walk to the barrel, sell, buy a node. Each of those steps costs time. A crate skips most of that chain. One grab can fund a node that makes the next grabs even louder. That is the snowball.
Leave crates to snowball and they outpace fishing. Extra rods and a bigger backpack still print, but the crate lane grows faster because it does not wait on bites. Reviewers noticed. Quadriplegic Medic’s Steam review put it in plain language: “The deliveries could use rebalancing as they get OP fast. Second playthrough could use with rebalancing since everything’s maxxed out.”
That is the honest design note. It is not a bug this wiki can patch. It is the reason this page exists: play the crates, then spend the payout so the rest of the loop still works. The same review treated the full run as about two hours, called the later interstellar levels pretty, and said the launch discount was worth it. Those points sit next to the delivery complaint. The game is short. The space islands look good. The intro sale makes the price easier. Deliveries still take over if you let them, and a second file feels already solved.
Still buy backpack and rods
The trap is becoming crate-only. You grab packages, skip capacity, skip extra lines, and then the next island is a walk simulator with a two-slot bag and one bobber. Crates do not replace the engine. They fund it.
Spend crate coins on the same order the upgrade planner already prints:
- Backpack size so a crate dump and a full bobber load can coexist.
- Extra rods / lines so fishing still happens while you walk packages.
- Max fish per bobber so each cast is a stack, not a nibble.
- Lure range and cast distance when the new island’s water is bigger.
- Magnets once the ground is covered in fish you would otherwise miss on the crate run.
- Sell value after the loop is fast, not instead of it.
If a crate pays for a vanity node and you still empty a five-slot bag on a late island, you spent the package wrong. The upgrades tier list still ranks backpack, bobber stack, and extra rods as S. Crates do not rewrite that list. They make it cheaper to stay on it. Fishing still matters for logs, for biome fish, and for the stretches when crates are not sitting on the grass. 2X water still beats unmarked water. Golden fish still apply a coin multiplier. A crate is a bonus dump, not a reason to ignore the fish tier list.
Second playthrough and the already-maxed feeling
New Game Plus, or a second file after you know the spend order, is where deliveries feel worst. You already know to grab every yellow crate. You already know backpack then rods. The early islands cannot slow you down, so the tree looks maxed before the pretty water shows up. Quadriplegic Medic asked for a rebalance on that second run specifically because everything’s maxxed out.
This wiki will not invent a NG+ modifier table. There is no public “crates pay half on file two” note we can print. The practical advice is smaller:
- Grab crates anyway. Leaving them on the grass is not a self-imposed rebalance; it is wasted coins.
- Do not skip backpack and rods “to make it fair.” Later islands still punish a tiny pack.
- If the second run feels already solved, that is a length-and-balance complaint, not a missed secret. The review is the page for whether two hours plus a loud crate lane is the game you wanted.
- A first run is where crate timing still surprises you. Learn the grab there.
The interstellar / space stages are the reward for sailing. Gold piles and crystals show up in the art. The fox is still walking crates. If NG+ dumps you into that look with a tree that is already green, enjoy the scenery and stop expecting the early pond to teach you again.
How crates sit on the island chain
The Island Walkthrough is tropical pond, ice with penguins, lava, later 2X water, then interstellar stages. Crates can appear on those islands as yellow packages on the grass. They are not a separate delivery biome. You do not sail to a warehouse map.
Keep the boat fed with logs. Upgrades persist when you sail; crate habits should persist too. Scan a new island for the barrel first, then for yellow. If you fish a 2X pool with a crate sitting behind you, you are leaving money on the dock. Penguin Kicker is a timed minigame with coins. It is not a crate. The turtle pet is not a crate. Mid-game drones and planes are dressing. If it is yellow, on the ground, and wants E, it is a delivery.
A session plan that does not go crate-only
Open the island. Cast. Fill the pack. On the walk to the barrel, grab any yellow crate you pass. Sell. Buy capacity or a rod. Return to water. Repeat. When two crates and a full pack are both waiting, take the crate first only if it is on the path; do not cross the whole island for a package while the backpack is already leaking time.
If money stalls even with crates, you under-bought the engine. Open How to Make Money Fast and buy backpack and extra lines before you hunt another package. Ranked nodes after a dump still belong on the upgrade planner and the Tier List Hub. The rest of the how-tos sit on Guides Hub.
Just Keep Fishing launched on 27 August 2026. Reviewers describe about two hours. Deliveries are how a short incremental can jump a rank early. Take the jump, then keep fishing so the next island is not a commute. The yellow crate is a package, not a new game.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers on islands, upgrades, the turtle, and launch week.
How do I pick up a delivery crate?
Walk up to the yellow package on the island and press E, the same interact you use on the barrel. If nothing happens, you are out of range. There is no separate delivery key.
Do deliveries replace fishing?
No. They outpace fishing if you let them snowball, but a crate-only fox still needs backpack size and extra rods. Spend the payout on the engine, then return to the water.
Why do people say crates are overpowered?
They skip the cast-wait-click-walk chain. Quadriplegic Medic's Steam review said deliveries get OP fast and that a second playthrough feels already maxed. That is a balance note, not a hidden rank.
What should I buy with crate coins?
The same order as the upgrade planner: backpack, extra rods, fish per bobber, then range and magnets. Do not dump a package into vanity while the bag is still tiny.
Does New Game Plus change crate payouts?
This wiki will not invent an NG+ modifier table. The second-run complaint is that everything is already maxed, including how hard crates hit, not that crates stop appearing.
Are crates on every island?
They show on islands as yellow packages on the grass, including late chaotic shores. They are not their own biome. Scan for the barrel, then for yellow, as you sail the walkthrough.
