About Just Keep Fishing

Starting island in Just Keep Fishing: a fox on a wooden dock beside a hut and barrel, bobber inside a dashed circle, and $7 on the HUD.

Just Keep Fishing launched on Steam on 27 August 2026 as a short, single-player incremental fishing game. You play a fox angler on a tiny dock: cast into the dashed circle, haul fish to the barrel, and spend the coins on a branching skill tree. Start with the beginner guide and the controls page, then browse the rest of the guides hub. Island routes take you from the starting hut to lava and ice maps. The walkthrough covers boat unlocks and island order. Between some islands you play Penguin Kicker. Gems that scatter from the sell bin have their own gems and loot page. The turtle swims out of reach at first, then becomes a walking pet — see how to catch the turtle. When barrel income stalls, use how to make money fast and deliveries. Not every skill-tree node is worth an early buy. Rank spend order on the tier list hub, then check fish values and the upgrade order list. The tools hub has an upgrade planner plus system requirements for Windows and macOS. Launch-week notes live on the updates hub: read the launch recap, the June demo recap, and post-launch notes. Steam Deck players should start with the Steam Deck page. Steam ships 27 achievements — the achievements guide lists them — and our review covers the typical ~2 hour run. Official store, social, and community pages sit on links.

Quick start

New on the dock? Five steps from first cast to the next island.

  1. 1

    Cast, catch, fill the barrel

Aim the bobber at the dashed circle, reel fish, and dump them in the barrel beside the hut. Coins pop out and feed the skill tree. The beginner guide shows this first loop in order.

  2. 2

    Buy the backpack

Your fox starts with almost no inventory, so early catches get left on the dock. The cheap backpack buy is the first income spike. Check upgrade order before you spend on flashy nodes.

  3. 3

    Add extra rods

One line is slow. Extra rods put more bobbers in the water while you walk fish to the barrel. Pair this with the upgrade planner so you do not skip cheaper nodes.

  4. 4

    Catch the turtle

You will see the turtle swim past the starting island long before you can land it. Catch it later and it becomes a walking pet, not barrel loot. Follow how to catch the turtle.

  5. 5

    Buy the boat and leave

When the first island stalls, the boat is the gate to lava and ice maps. The walkthrough covers the unlock. Between some islands you hit Penguin Kicker.

FAQ

Wiki FAQ

Quick answers on islands, upgrades, the turtle, and launch week.

How do I play Just Keep Fishing?

Cast the bobber into fish, dump the catch in the barrel, and spend coins on the skill tree. The beginner guide covers the first dock, and controls lists every input.

Is Just Keep Fishing single-player?

Yes. Just Keep Fishing is single-player only on Steam. One fox, one dock, one skill tree. See the review for how long a typical run lasts.

What is the difference between the demo and the full game?

The Steam demo (10 June 2026) was a shorter slice of the early islands. The full launch on 27 August 2026 adds later lava and ice routes, the penguin minigame, and the complete skill tree. Compare both on the demo recap and the launch notes.

How do I catch the turtle?

The turtle swims past the first island on purpose. You catch it later; it then walks the dock as a pet instead of sitting in the barrel. Full steps are in how to catch the turtle.

Which languages are supported?

This wiki supports: English, Français, Deutsch, Español. Configure locales in site.meta.json and run npm run generate:i18n.

How many achievements are there?

Steam lists 27 achievements, from early gear buys to the last island. Track them with the achievements guide.

What are the system requirements?

Just Keep Fishing runs on Windows 10 or later and macOS Ventura or later, with a modest CPU, 4 GB RAM, and about 500 MB of storage. Full specs are on system requirements.

What should I buy first?

Backpack space, extra rods, then cast range — not every shiny node. See how to make money fast and the upgrade planner.

Why am I chasing gems after I sell?

Valuables can pop from the sell bin and scatter. A recovery upgrade does not vacuum the island. Read gems and loot. Yellow crates are a separate snowball — see deliveries.

Does Just Keep Fishing run on Steam Deck?

Players have finished sessions on Deck. Official store platforms are Windows and macOS. Setup and the launch Discord hotfix are on the Steam Deck page.

Ready to fill the barrel?

Pick an upgrade path, then fish until the boat appears. Start with the beginner guide, compare upgrade order, and skim the walkthrough before you leave the first island.
